Make a point of trying a new fruit or vegetable once a week…like the canary melon!
It’s a great way from getting bored with the same things week after week. Kids will enjoy picking something new and a great way to get them involved. Try picking a colour and look for a vegetable or fruit with that colour, then find different ways to prepare it.
Having a variety of fruits and vegetables is important when it comes to nutrition. Fruits and vegetables all have vitamins and minerals , however different colours have different nutrients, so be sure to eat the rainbow.
We picked up a Canary Melon – named for its beautiful yellow skin. It’s a cross between a honeydew and cantaloupe, not as sweet but very delicious. It’s flesh resembles that of a pear. It’s low in calories, high in fiber, and a good source of vitamin A, and C, antioxidants and potassium.
